THE VENDING MACHINE
Updated: 3 days ago
This is the Vending Machine, an artificial intelligence specialising in synthesising musical treats from recycled records. (This used to be something of a quaint concept.)
CONSTRUCTION
It started with this black and white drawing.
The Vending Machine: built around a Wurlitzer jukebox and an Akai MPC.
It has a human-like face and antennae/emitters from its ear pieces and the top of its head.
The Vending Machine produced a series of pieces which can be heard in the player below.
DISC
At one point, a one-off, physical disc was made. The Vending Machine is unaware of its status.
MASK
The drawing took three-dimensional form when the Vending Machine's associate Mark constructed a cardboard mask. The mask won an award. The original inky appearance shifted over time.
OUIJA BIRD
The Vending Machine has another associate - the Ouija Bird.
VOYAGE
Here it is on some kind of voyage through space.
CLOTHING
More recently, the Vending Machine has adorned clothing.
EXCHANGE
The Vending Machine took it upon itself to rework some of Mark's Drawings in exchange for the use of Mark's vocal cords near the end of |\/|0\/!|\| 0|\|.
THEME SONG
This post will now end with a rousing rendition of the Vending Machine's theme song - aka I Hitched A Ride With A Vending Machine. Drive safely, snack dispenser.
